What is the NDA Exam?

The NDA exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) in India twice a year. It is a national-level examination that is conducted to select candidates for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The exam is open to unmarried male and female candidates who are citizens of India and meet certain age and educational qualifications. The syllabus of the exam covers subjects like Mathematics, General Knowledge, English, Physics, and Chemistry. Candidates who qualify in the exam are called for a personality test (SSB interview), and those who are successful in the interview are admitted to the respective service academies for training. Those who are successful in the SSB interview are admitted to the respective service academies for training. After successful completion of the training, candidates are commissioned as officers in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.

NDA Recruitment 2024

NDA Recruitment 2024 has announced by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) .The exam will be conducted twice this year, with the first exam scheduled for April 2024 and the second exam for September 2024. The detailed notification for NDA 2024, including eligibility criteria, application process, exam pattern, and syllabus has released by UPSC on their official website. The NDA 2024 exam will be held at various centers across the country, and candidates will be required to choose their preferred exam center while filling out the application form. The exam is conducted twice annually in two tiers: a written test and SSB Interview. UPSC-shortlisted candidates with minimum qualifying marks are only called further for the SSB Interview round in Intelligence and Personality Test. Around 4 lakh aspirants wish to attend the examination, of which approximately 6000 are called for the interview round.

NDA Vacancy 2024

A total of 400 vacancies have been announced for the UPSC NDA1 2024 Exam. These vacancies are at the National Defence Academy and the Naval Academy and are distributed among the Army, Navy and Air Force. The details of the UPSC NDA  Vacancy are provided below.

How To Apply for NDA Exam 2024?

The applications for the UPSC NDA Exam must be submitted online through the UPSC website. The steps for the same are explained below.

Step 1: Go to the official website of UPSC. Click on the OTR (One Time Registration) tab and complete the registration.

Step 2: Then proceed and begin filling out the Part I Online Application form.

Step 3: Fill in the mandatory details before clicking on Submit.

Step 4: A unique Registration ID will be generated after successful submission.

Step 5: Pay the fees and revisit the website.

Step 6: Select Part II Registration and Fill in all the details in Part II.

Step 7: After submitting the form, take the printout of the application form for further reference.

NDA Application Fee 

The candidates belonging to the SC/ST category will not have to pay any examination fee. The fee can be paid either by depositing the money in any branch of SBI by cash or by using the net banking facility of any bank or through Visa/MasterCard/Rupay Credit/Debit Card/UPI. NDA 2024 Eligibility

In order to apply for the NDA exam 2024, candidates must satisfy the minimum eligibility requirements as stated in the official notification. Only eligible candidates will be allowed to appear for the examination. These criteria are expressed in terms of nationality, age limit, educational qualification, and others. The NDA Eligibility Criteria is presented in the following subsections:

Nationality 2024

The applicant must compulsorily be:

1. A citizen of India, or
2. A subject of Nepal, or
3. A person of Indian origin who has migrated with the intention of permanently settling in India from
   • Pakistan
   • Burma
   • Sri Lanka
   • Kenya
   • Uganda
   • the United Republic of Tanzania
   • Zambia
   • Malawi
   • Zaire
   • Ethiopia
   • Vietnam

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii), above shall be a person in whose favor the Government of India has issued a certificate of eligibility.

Educational Qualifications 2024

In order to be eligible for the NDA I exam 2024, candidates must hold the following educational qualifications:

• For the Army Wing of National Defence Academy—12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
• For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy—12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

Age Limit 2024

Candidates applying for the NDA 2024 should not be born earlier than born not earlier than 2nd July 2005 and not later than 1st July 2008. Candidates should note that only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination Certificate available or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will be accepted by the Commission and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted. Also, candidates should be unmarried and they cannot marry until the completion of their training period.

A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful at this or any subsequent examination will not be selected for training. A candidate who marries during training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditures incurred on him by the Government.

NDA 1 2024 Selection Process

The candidates who wish to join the prestigious National Defence Academy will have to undergo an intricate process of selection. The process can broadly divide into two stages namely written examination and SSB examination. The SSB stands for Service Selection Board. The written exam will consist of two papers i.e. Mathematics and General Ability Test.

The SSB examination will also consist of two sections of selection. The stages of selection are qualifying in nature. Hence, the NDA selection process, in a nutshell, will be as follows.

UPSC NDA Exam Syllabus 2024

Given below is the NDA Syllabus for the candidates preparing for the exam. Knowing the syllabus and managing it properly is the key factor in your preparation strategy. The UPSC NDA Syllabus 2024 is divided into 2 parts viz. Maths and GAT. The GAT section is further divided into English and General Awareness. NDA 1 2024 Exam Pattern 

The candidates must understand the exam pattern in detail in order to prepare for the Examination. The examination pattern for both stages of selection has been discussed below. Both stages of selection will have two sub-stages. Each of the sub-stages in the NDA Exam Pattern has been clearly explained in simple terms.

Written examination

• The papers will consist of objective-type questions only.
• The question paper will consist of two subjects i.e Mathematics and General Ability Tests. The General Ability Test will consist of two parts i.e English and General Knowledge. The General Knowledge part will include topics like current affairs, history, general science, etc. This part will further consist of five different sections.
• Each paper will have a duration of 2.5 hours.
• The maximum marks will be 300 and 600 respectively.
• For every wrong answer, 1/3rd marks will be deducted.

SSB examination (Intelligence and Personality Test)

The SSB exam will further consist of two stages i.e. Stage I and Stage II. In this stage, the overall personality of the candidate is judged. This is done by three people i.e. The Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO), and the Psychologist. The tests taken in the SSB are taken to figure out the presence/absence of Officer Like Qualities and candidates' trainability. The two stages of the SSB Examination are as follows.

Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception * Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on a combination of performance in the OIR Test and PP&DT.

Stage II: Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and the Conference.

The SSB interview is 900 marks and the total marks including the written test and the SSB Interview are 1800.

NDA Admit Card 2024

The UPSC NDA Admit Card will be released shortly before the conduct of the NDA exam. The Union Public Service Commission will release the NDA 1 2024 Admit Card on its official website, https://upsc.gov.in, 15 days before the examination date. Candidates who have applied for the NDA exam 2024 will be able to download their admit cards once it is released. The admit card is a mandatory document that needs to be carried to the examination hall, as without it candidates will not be allowed to sit for the exam. The NDA Admit Card will contain details of the candidate like name, roll number, exam date, time, exam center location, etc. On the day of examination, candidates need to carry a passport size photograph and an original ID proof for verification.

NDA Result 2024

After the successful completion of the written exam and SSB interview, UPSC declares the NDA Result on its website. The result is published in a merit list of qualified candidates arranged in order of merit. Candidates can check if they have cleared the exam by entering their roll number or name. Based on performance in the written and interview round, candidates are recommended for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. The final selection and admission into the respective academies depend on the merit list and medical examination conducted by Service Selection Boards.

NDA Salary 2024

The Union Public Service Commission's Official Notification for NDA Exam 2024 will contain an extensive salary structure. During the training cycle, the Cadets will be paid a fixed stipend of Rs. 56,100/- for the duration of their training in service academies (i.e. during their training period at IMA). The pay in the pay matrix of the Officer commissioned shall be set in the first Cell of Level 10 after good training. The Pay scale will differ from one post to another and will be mentioned in the official guidelines.

After getting commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army and equivalent ranks in the Air Force and Navy the salary of the officers is fixed as per the first Cell of Level 10. The Officers are promoted as per their years of service and after clearing promotional exams.
