The Union Public Service Commission has officially announced the UPSC IES Exam Date 2024 for Prelims. The UPSC IES Prelims exam will be held on 18th February 2024 in two shifts (Paper 1 from 10 AM to 12 PM and Paper 2 from 2 PM to 5 PM). The candidates must apply for the UPSC IES exam by submitting the online applications using the online portal of the commission. The steps to do so are as follows.
Step 1: Interested candidates must click on the application link given above.
Step 2: The candidates must fill the application in two parts i.e. Part I and Part II.
Step 3: Candidates must begin by submitting a valid and active email ID and phone number.
Step 4: The application fee must be paid according to the category of the candidate.
Step 5: Fill all the personal and educational details.
Step 6: Upload the scanned documents as required.
Step 7: Submit the application form and take a print.
All the candidates except the SC/ST/PwBD and Women(all categories) must pay an application fee worth Rs. 200/-. The application fee can be paid using net banking and credit/debit card. The candidates can also pay the fees via offline mode by visiting the nearest SBI bank branch.

The UPSC IES Exam Pattern for both prelims exam and mains exam has been discussed in detail. Go through the details to understand the sectional weightage, and types of questions asked in the exam.
The prelims exam will consist of three two papers namely General Studies & Engineering Aptitude and paper based on engineering discipline. Both these papers will be objective type. Every wrong answer will result in 1/3rd mark deduction. The detailed exam pattern for the prelims is as given below.

The mains exam will consist of two papers based on the concerned stream. These two papers will be descriptive in nature. Each paper will carry 300 marks and the maximum marks will be 600. The duration will be three hours for each paper.

The salary rate and benefits of an IES officer are as per the 7th Pay Commission. The Officer receives an in-hand salary of INR 55,135.
