The Karnataka Examination Authority has extended the registration dates. Now, the registration, submission of application and payment will be from 18-12-2023 to 19-12-2023 (4.00 pm). What is the Karnataka SET Exam?

The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (Karnataka SET), also known as LBS Karnataka SET, is a state-level eligibility test conducted by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, Karnataka, India. The primary purpose of the Karnataka SET exam is to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in various universities and colleges in Karnataka. It is similar to the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) but is specific to the state of Karnataka.

Candidates interested in becoming assistant professors can apply for the KSET exam online. The application is completed entirely online. The applicant must complete the application form found on the official website. The procedure for applying for the KSET is as follows:

Step 1: Visit the KSET official website and there you will find out the link to apply online. 

Step 2: Candidates need to fill in the application form giving the details like Name, Contact number, Email, Date of Birth, Gender, etc. Click on “Register” to proceed for the next step.

Step 3: In this step candidates need to fill the application form by providing their personal as well as academic details.

Step 4: Upload the photograph and signature and click on next to proceed for the payment screen. 

Step 5: Select the appropriate mode of payment and pay the application fee.

Step 6: Print the submitted application form along with the fee receipt for future uses.

Important Notes: 

  • It is compulsory for all candidates to pay the application fee to confirm their application form. 
  • A late fine of INR 250 will be charged to candidates who are applying after the application deadline. 
  • The application fee once paid is not refundable. 
  • Online payments can be done through Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, SBI Buddy e-Wallet Payment, etc.
  • For offline payments, candidates can also pay the application fee through cash/cheque to the SBI branch. 
  • Offline payment modes such as Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO, etc are not accepted. 

KSET Eligibility

Before candidates apply for the KSET 2024 exam, it is crucial to know the eligibility criteria of the examination properly. The Eligibility for this year will be released with the official notification. the Eligibility Criteria from last year. Knowing the eligibility criteria is the first element of any exam preparation. Hoping that the KSET eligibility will remain the same, we are providing here all the eligibility criteria for the concerned examination from last year.

  • There is no such age limit for the candidates.
  • Candidates must have completed Master's degree.

Know the Exemptions Given for KSET Examination

  • Candidates who are in their final year must produce their certificate within the time period of 2 years from the date of publication of KSET 2023 results.
  • Candidates, who have successfully passed any one of the NET/SET/SLET exams are exempted under UGC governance.
  • Candidates who have successfully passed the State Eligibility Test on or before 01 June 2002 are also exempted from KSET 2020 examination.
  • Candidates who have successfully passed any one of the UGC-NET/CSIR JRF examinations on or before 1989 are exempted from KSET 2020 examination.
  • Candidates who have successfully passed any KSET examination previously are not eligible for the KSET examination.

KSET 2024 Selection Process 

Candidates must be aware of the KSET Selection Process 2023 before appearing for the examination. The exam will be conducted in two papers. 

  • Paper-I: This paper is a compulsory paper and topics such as general teaching and research aptitude will be covered in this paper. The total marks for Paper I will be 100.
  • Paper-II: This paper is subject-based and questions in this paper will be objective in nature. All the subjects and their syllabus are given below. Paper-II will be of 200 marks. 

Note- Candidates should be scoring minimum aggregate marks in both papers to qualify. The qualification percentage required is 40% for General category candidates, whereas for reserved candidates such as SC / ST/ CAT-I / II A/ II B / III A / III B / PWD it is 35%. According to the UGC guidelines, only 6% of the total candidates will qualify for the post. The University of Mysore will prepare a merit list according to the guidelines prescribed by UGC.

KSET 2024 Exam Pattern 

KSET 2024 will expectedly be conducted by the University of Mysore in two papers and it will be an offline exam. Paper -I is a compulsory paper that will be based on the topics of general teaching and research aptitude, whereas Paper-II will be based on subjects selected by the candidates. All the questions will be objective in nature. Details about the exam patterns are given below.

Important Notes:

  • The exam papers will be set in both English and Kannada languages. 
  • The papers will be objective in nature.
  • There are two sections/papers such as Paper I and II. 
  • Paper, I will have 50 compulsory questions, whereas Paper II will have 100 compulsory questions.
  • All correct answers will be awarded 2 marks each.
