In addition to receiving the IAS officer’s Salary, IAS Officers are also eligible for a number of additional benefits. The following is a list of IAS officers’ perks and allowances:
The IAS salary includes a medical allowance that may be paid if an employee needs medical attention.
Each IAS officer will receive one to three vehicles, as well as a driver or chauffeur.
Security is provided by 3 house guards and 2 bodyguards. In the event of a threat, STF commandos can also be made available. Furthermore, the entire police force is available to the IAS Officer if he or she is appointed District Magistrate or Commissioner. He or she is free to construct their security cover however they see fit.
Depending on the type of city, HRA varies. HRA will be 24% for officers working in 8 X category cities. Employees deployed to Y category locations will receive an HRA value of 16%, while employees sent to Z category cities would receive an HRA value of 8%. Three BSNL SIM cards with free talk time, SMS, and internet are given to officers. Additionally, have access to a free broadband connection and a BSNL landline at home.
For both official and unofficial trips to other states, IAS officers can stay at circuit houses, government bungalows, or rest houses on a reduced rate. The IAS officer would be given accommodations in the appropriate State Bhavan with all amenities when visiting New Delhi.
IAS officers have personal housekeepers to do the daily tasks in their official dwelling or service quarter.
IAS Officers are given access to a duplex bungalow in the state capital’s (VVIP) restricted area, where they are posted. However, officers who obtain official housing won’t be given HRA.
Dearness Allowance is one of the best benefits of the IAS officer salary structure. Every six months (in January and July of each year), the salary’s Dearness Allowance component is changed in accordance with the inflation index i.e Consumer Price Index. (CPI). The DA can now reach up to 125% because it excludes the Transport Allowance.
IAS officers have job security because it is difficult to fire an officer and the procedure necessitates a thorough investigation as required by the constitution.
IAS officers retire with a lifetime pension as well as other benefits. In the event of their passing after retirement, their wives are also eligible to receive the same benefits.
After nine years of service, officers also have the option of taking a 2-4 year study leave. IAS officials can use this time off to enroll in classes at a reputable international university. The government will cover all of the expenses associated with education.
