The UPSC exam has a total of 28 optional language literature subjects out of which Bengali is one. It is a highly skilled subject and the candidates who have Bengali as a subject in their curriculum course or the language is their mother tongue and they are well-versed then only candidates should opt for it.

Candidates who will be appearing for the exam should know the detailed UPSC Bengali Literature beforehand. The preliminary exam will be of total 400 marks and will include a general studies paper and an aptitude test. Candidates must qualify the prelims exam to be eligible for the mains exam.
UPSC mains exam will consist of several papers including the UPSC Bengali Optional papers. Check the exam pattern for the same below:-
